Sobu, as it is coming to be known, comprises Brookwood Hills, Collier Hills and Ardmore Park in an area that begins at the Brookwood Interchange and continues north along Peachtree. An abundance of galleries, eateries, and some evening gathering spots give it a charm that attracts younger patrons, with a vibe that’s more celebration than settled lifestyle. This is a community of new ideas, of "living life to the fullest," not unlike Miami's South Beach or New York's trendy neighborhoods.
In the 1880s, prominent hotel owner Joseph Thompson and his wife built an estate in the area and named it Brookwood. Today the AMTRAK station also bears the name. Brookwood Hills is home to over 3,000 residents, and was the site of some of the bloodiest Civil War battles.
